Thugocracy

J.U. Hey!

The JUA money grab is back in the news.  A group is blasting Kelly Ayotte and John Lynch for trying to balance the budget with 110 million from a fund created by the state but filled with money from the pockets of doctors who were forced by law to contribute to it.  The thinking goes that because the state forced them to pay in, the state has rights to the money because it (the state) created the underwriting fund.

Poznanski, Leishman, Eaton, Et al

Terri Norelli isn't all that interested in ethics.  In the past few months several potentially high profile cases have gone softly into that good night with as little pomp as possible.

Health Dare

So we’re down to this.  Do you dare vote for the trash barrel bill that is pretending to be health Care reform?  Can you countenance your constitutional obligation to defend your constituents from the government by voting for something that Speaker Pelosi declares we cannot begin to know the details of until after the vote is already cast?

Hypocrats (again)

Being a liberal means never having to do better than whomever you can find that can be shown to be as bad or worse than whatever it is you are being accused of.  This, courtesy of Mike Brunelle, NHDP XO, as reported in this morning’s Union Leader, where Comrade Brunelle dismisses a request by the GOP to investigate Rep Dan Eaton (D-Spend first Tax later) as hypocrisy that knows no bounds.

Low Hanging Fruit

Last week the New Hampshire House voted against a bill to let tax payers adopt charter provisions establishing limitations on the growth of budgets and taxes.  The actual short text reads as follows:

This bill authorizes cities and towns to adopt charter provisions establishing limitations on the growth of budgets and taxes.

What Does Hodes Know?

Remember last October when Paul Hodes tucked tail and ran to avoid an ethics vote that would implicate his democrat committee chariman (here)?  Well that Chairman, Edolphus Towns, has just been implicated in a missrepresentation of details that made Toyota look worse than was actually the case.

3 AM (Incompetence Revisited)

3 AM plus four days after getting the phone call the commenter in chief took a break from his vacation to tell us that the Terrorist we had already heard about was an isolated extremist.

In A Van (Jones) Down By The River

Marxist-Truther and all around Republican hater  Van Jones is supposed to be in Exeter today to talk about Green Innovations.  That’s the “gee I’m trying to destroy your economy with my socialist-environmental justice agenda, and pushing my new book” way of saying, can’t we just all buy in to this scam, and you can do that if you buy my book. (ranked on Amazon at 177,508)  Comrade  Jones is best known as the Obama administrations “almost” Green Jobs Czar, but the truth got out about his inclinations so the job of green jobs czar was neither saved or created.

Jim Bender on NHTR

Hollis resident and US Senate candidate Jim Bender was our guest last night on New Hampshire Taxpayer Radio.

Jim's primary message?

Down size government, and do things that actually encourage growth in the economy.  Get out of the way and let America do what it does best.  Oh, and no on in Washington seems to have the slightest idea how to do either.

I'm inclined to agree.

Jim also supports term limits on everyone in DC.  Twelve years and out.  This would keep the entitlement culture and lobbyist power at bay by making any investment in the political class a limited one.

Budget Cutters Remorse

Not long ago the Merrimack School board made an unprecedented move.  In the shrinking shadow of declining enrollment, they decided to cut staff.  That’s right teachers.  But in the intervening weeks since the plan was submitted there has been a change of heart.  Call it “Budget Cutter’s Remorse.”  Or more likely, the union and the towns’ grow government first lobby applied enough local pressure to convince the weak links on the school board to put the teachers back in the budget.

No Income Tax..Yet.

The Goley campaign has nothing to run on so it has set about lying in broad daylight in the slim hope that someone will buy in.  Note the choice of words there?  Buy in.  Go along Goley has been using the citizens of New Hampshire as an ATM machine to finance his grow government first style of "follow-ship" so buying-in is not just a metaphor for belief.  He's been bought and sold to the liberal spendaholic agenda.   Jeff gladly spent 23% more of your money on government, imagining revenue, with no idea how to really pay for it, then voted liberally to extract those costs from your pocket when the money just never showed up.

Cry Me A River

In one of those eponymous political moments we all cherish, the NH House Education subcommittee, charged with reviewing legislation to retool the states Bullying Laws, says it was bullied itself.

Rep Judith Reever (D-Laconia) Vice Chair on the Education Committee does not disagree with the idea that the subcommittee bowed to prejudice, this quoted from the Sunday Union leader.

Rep Rachel Burke (D-Strafford Dist # 3) also on the committee, is reported by the UL to have been crying during a phone interview as she claimed to have been intimidated by the idea that opponents would defeat the bill if controversial language was not removed.
