If you're not for lower taxes and less government...
As a non-partisan organization we at CNHT don't really care what party you choose to join...that is, as long as you are for the cause of lower taxes and less government.
But lately, we are seeing many people calling themselves 'libertarians' championing the causes of socialists who hope to overthrow the very champions who are responsible for the wonderful advantages that NH offers that made it so inviting a state in the first place!
NH is not just the lowest taxed, most prosperous, highest acheiving state in the northeast for nothing. It is Republicans who are responsible for this.
Is it any wonder that Republicans also scored the highest on this non-partisan scorecard, from a group run mostly by FSPers:
New Hampshire Liberty Alliance Scorecard

Here also is some important information on how taxation has ruined the economies of Vermont and Connecticut:

And finally a chart of our state as it compares to the others tax-wise:

The bottom line is, no matter what, it is REPUBLICANS who have given us and helped us KEEP the NH Advantage.
Now is not the time to have temper tantrums or to vote for those promoting bigger government and higher taxes.
It is hoped that people who vote will realize this and vote to keep this advantage.
It is hoped that people who move here will plan to work with us to keep the NH Advantage, no matter which 'party' is responsible..

Stop Supporting the Republicrats
That may be true but the Republicans are also the sames ones taking our freedoms away with vile, unconstitutional laws like the Military Commissions Act of 2006 & the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007. They are currently the most egregious thieves of liberty in government and are the enablers of the insidious Gestapo known as the Department of Homeland Security. Instead of pushing to support the worst half of the Republicrat coin, perhaps you would do better as a libertarian by spending your time focusing on getting Libertarians elected instead. Vote for Freedom, Vote Libertarian. I'm a concerned libertarian and I approve this message.
Understanding the local situation
Well you are obviously missing the point. The things you are talking about do NOT happen at the LOCAL level. You say Republicans are also the sames ones taking our freedoms away, but that is not true at the LOCAL LEVEL. Our NH State Senators and Reps don't got to vote on this stuff in DC. They are working for NH. And they ARE our 'libertarians' and have done very well for us since 1922. They did not deserve to be punished for that. So if you really DO vote your 'conscience' and for the 'person' as I hear many libertarians claim, you would never think of shooting yourself in the foot by removing your allies at the state level. I suppose if one does not live in NH, they do not understand the way the local government works. However, I don't think it's any different from any other state. And being a socialist-enabler because of your blanket dislike of those who have the same letter after their names, doesn't help NH either. I suppose this will be a lesson that will have to be learned the hard way for some after they see what damages will be done now by voting for not the lesser, but the worst of two evils! There is NEVER an excuse to support socialism....which I understood the FSP to be adamantly against in its definition of freedom?
Here is a quote from Seacoast Online that sums it up: "At least for now, that party is over. President George W. Bush and his administration took down New Hampshire Republicans. It is a shame that local state Republican representatives lost their seats based upon the actions of federal Republicans and their actions, which have little direct bearing on governance of this state."
I doubt even 30% of all people polled understand that last sentence. This election shows it.
Agreement, and Disagreement
I agree that there's not much difference between the Libertarians and Democrats at the national level. Perhaps at the top reaches of NH State politics as well. But I do know for a fact that the Republicans and Democrats both in the NH House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed HB-1582 last year -- heck Republican Neal Kurk sponsored the bill!
Many of the NH House Republican Alliance feel that they stuck with Barry Goldwater, and meanwhile "their party" left them. They're Libertarians in all but name.
Personally, I plan to do all I can to help educate both the Republicans and Democrats in office. Maybe read them a passage or two from the NH State Constitution, maybe make them watch a few minutes of this animation.
I do vote Libertarian when I'm just sending a message -- like, for Blevans for US Congress. For anything in-state, I vote for those who vote Freedom and actually win, by voting with the NHLA endorsements. I look forward to many more Free-Stater liberty lovers coming to NH, registering as Remocrats and Depublicans, and winning elections.
Yes
Once again, the first poster, by mentioning Military Commissions Act of 2006 & the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 is missing the point. We also have the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in 1996 which mandates a Real ID card. Many of the programs started to 'monitor' Americans, and institute national ID programs were NOT just started in the last 4 years.
And once again, our LOCAL Senators/Reps in NH had nothing to do with those!
So, whether they are D's or R's that are scoring high on our lists, by attacking them, you are just shooting yourself in the foot. At this time, according to Denis's NHLA scorecard, they happen to be R's If they were D's I am sure we could find just as many things that were done to us legislatively at the national level by the D's that were just as egregious!
HOWEVER, that would NOT stop me from voting for my NH legislators just because they TOO had a D next to their names! So the poster's theory of voting for the person I guess is not applicable when the tables are turned. Separating the 'who did what' is what seems to be the confusion here.
The poster also said that R's were, "The most egregious thieves of liberty in government and are the enablers of the insidious Gestapo known as the Department of Homeland Security." That is also not going to go away at the national level now that the D's are in, do you think? So, are they now the enemy at the local level as well?
I have trouble with this way of thinking which is at odds with what the poster claims we should be doing.
I am not sure people like this see they are not practicing what they are preaching in theory because they do not understand the difference of what legislators can do at the local level compared to what the 'party' bosses do at the national level.
We have just had NH's uniqueness destroyed in a way, by lumping in our A's and B's (who are mostly R's) with the national GOP.
It is hard for me to believe anyone could be that spiteful as to shoot themselves in the foot. By voting for someone like Porter on the one issue basis, they just voted themselves in the biggest government expansion and control proponent ever! While I opposed Real ID on its own merit regardless of who was in office at the time, she opposed it because it was perceived as anti-R. But just look at her now -- she is going to do all she can to pass universal health care, (among other controls) and there goes the Real ID...as that is already mandated in the HIPAA act of 1996. Otherwise, what point would there be in having universal health care provided by government if they did not store your medical information, unique to you, on your chip on your card?
What a travesty.
My rule: always vote against the socialist!
